The North of 60 Classic is about more than bringing elite women’s university basketball to the North for the first time, it is about creating a lasting impact for northern athletes.
As part of the tournament legacy project, Basketball NWT is working toward upgrading:
school gymnasium infrastructure;
updating gym flooring;
installing appropriate FIBA court lines;
updated hoops and rims and;
any equipment that will elevate the quality of training and competition opportunities available to northern youth.
These upgrades will help create safer, more modern spaces where athletes can develop their skills, host higher-level events, and continue growing the game of basketball in the Northwest Territories.
THE NORTH OF 60 LEGACY
Sponsorship of the North of 60 Classic directly contributes to this long-term vision.
Beyond supporting a historic event, sponsors are investing in opportunities for northern youth, particularly young female athletes, to dream bigger and access improved sport environments within their own communities.
The impact of this support will extend far beyond the tournament itself, leaving a legacy that strengthens grassroots basketball development, inspires the next generation of athletes, and helps build sustainable sport infrastructure in the North for years to come.
WE'RE MORE THAN JUST A TOURNAMENT
